Cancer is one of the most concerned topics worldwide and a significant public health challenge as its burden increases daily. According to the GLOBOCAN 2020 report, around 19.3 million newly diagnosed cancer patients the total newly diagnosed patient, 11.7% are Breast cancer patients. Breast cancer is the world’s most diagnosed cancer.2021, breast cancer overtakes lung cancer. Though the recent advances in breast cancer are helpful for treatment modalities, they cause moderate to severe side effects. Complementary and alternative medicines like Panchgavya and Ayurveda are useful for breast cancer patients for good tolerance of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, improve their quality of life, and help to subside the side effects of treatment.
This case series of 5 breast cancer patients has 4 to 17 years of follow-up after surgical treatment. Patients may suffer from anxiety, depression, weight changes, weakness, fatigue, mood swings, headache, body aches, reduced quality of life, social distance, etc., so patients are treated with Panchgavya (~ five cow derivatives), including cow urine, cow milk, cow dung, curd, butter, and Ayurvedic intervention continuously. Patients show remarkable improvement in their quality-of-life questionnaire and show minimum side effects with 1 case of recurrence.
This case series helps to understand that mutual treatment is restoring a sense of normalcy in the lives of breast cancer patients. After surgical management and during chemotherapy, radiotherapy hormonal therapy patient often endures severe side effects. However, Panchgavya and Ayurvedic treatments have shown promise in minimizing these side effects and leading healthy lives.
